Aasiya Zubair Hassan - "This was apparently a terroristic version of honor killing, a murder rooted in cultural notions about women's subordination to men."
Nadia Shahram, from the University at Buffalo Law School commented:
- "If a woman breaks the law which the husband or father has placed for the wife or daughter, honor killing has been justified."
For those who thought Islam was a religion of peace, this monster has managed to portray Islamic culture in a more accurate light. Although the reason for this nefarious crime currently remains unclear, dare we presume this was a methodical, premeditated ritual taught by a bloodthirsty cult that poses as a legitimate religion? Or is Hassan just a murderer who happens to be Muslim? Well, when people who have been raised in barbaric countries where women are seen as objects or slaves, should we be so shocked when people behave like they were brought up to believe? On March 12, 2009, an Erie County grand jury indicted Hassan on a single count of second-degree murder, and he is scheduled to be tried in January, 2010.
